I am Dr Kavitha Chetty, a specialist Colorectal Surgeon based in Randburg, Sandton and Midrand, South Africa. I am dedicated to delivering world-class, evidence-based care in colorectal surgery and surgical gastroenterology, with precision, integrity, and compassion.
With over 15 years of surgical experience, I strive for clinical excellence in every aspect of my practice. My approach combines academic discipline with a deep commitment to holistic, patient-centered care — always with the aim of preserving dignity, promoting recovery, and improving quality of life.
My Medical Journey
My medical career began in KwaZulu-Natal, where my early exposure to community health programs ignited a passion for equitable healthcare and surgical accessibility. After graduating from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2009, I became a proud Fuller Hall alumnus and an active SHAWCO participant.
I completed my internship in Pietermaritzburg and community service in Mpumalanga, gaining hands-on experience in diverse healthcare settings. In 2013, I advanced my surgical training in Johannesburg, where I earned my Fellowship of the College of Surgeons [FCS(SA)] and a Master of Medicine (MMed) from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).
Pursuing further specialization, I completed a Certificate in Surgical Gastroenterology (Colorectal Surgery), equipping me to manage a broad spectrum of colorectal and pelvic floor conditions with advanced, minimally invasive, and robotic-assisted surgical techniques.
Areas of Expertise
I provide comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and post-operative care for a range of colorectal and gastrointestinal conditions, including:
- Colonoscopy and colorectal cancer screening

Philosophy of Care

My practice is rooted in ethical decision-making, meticulous attention to detail, and honest communication. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that each patient receives tailored, evidence-based care — from diagnosis to recovery.
I remain deeply committed to improving healthcare equity and surgical access across South Africa, especially for underserved communities. My mission is to provide accessible, dignified, and high-quality colorectal care to all who need it.
